Insurance at Sage Urgent Care
Urgent care that accepts Medicare
Sage Urgent Care accepts Original Medicare and Railroad Medicare. For a fall, a stubborn cough or a urinary infection that can’t wait for your doctor’s next opening, you can walk in to our Berkeley Heights clinic any day from 8 AM to 8 PM — without the cost, wait or exposure of an emergency room.
Medicare coverage at Sage
- Original Medicare (Part B) covers urgent care visits, X-rays and lab tests ordered during your visit.
- Railroad Medicare is accepted.
- Medicare supplement (Medigap) plans work alongside Original Medicare and often pick up the remaining coinsurance.
- Medicare Advantage plans each have their own network. Call (908) 363-0378 with your plan name and we’ll tell you before you come whether we’re in network.
What you’ll pay
Under Original Medicare, an urgent care visit falls under Part B: after the yearly Part B deductible, you generally pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount, and a Medigap plan may cover that share. The flu shot is covered by Part B with no cost to you, as is the COVID-19 vaccine. Tdap is usually covered under Part D drug plans rather than Part B, so ask at check-in.
Why older adults choose Sage
- Owned by emergency physicians. Our physicians know when a fall, a fever or chest symptoms need the emergency room — and when they don’t.
- X-ray, EKG and labs in the building — one visit instead of a referral and a second trip.
- Usually little or no wait and a free parking lot steps from the door.
What you can walk in for
- Illness: strep throat, flu, COVID, sinus and ear infections, UTIs, pink eye and rashes
- Injury: sprains, suspected fractures with on-site X-ray, cuts that need stitches and minor burns
- Testing: rapid strep (5–10 minutes), flu and COVID (about 15 minutes), urinalysis, EKG and lab work
- Prevention and forms: flu shots and Tdap, sports and school physicals, and work or school notes
What to bring
- Your insurance card (front and back) and a photo ID
- A list of your medications and allergies
- Any school, sports or work form you need completed
