Get answers today, not next week
When you're feeling sick, have been exposed, or need a clear result for school, work, or travel, the last thing you need is a three-day wait. At Sage Urgent Care we test for COVID-19 on the spot, review the result with a clinician, and send you home with a clear next step in a single visit.
We offer both rapid antigen testing — which delivers results in about 15 minutes — and PCR testing for situations that require it. Our provider will recommend the right test based on your symptoms, exposure history, and reason for testing.
When you should get tested
- You have respiratory symptoms — cough, sore throat, congestion, fever, body aches
- You've lost your sense of taste or smell
- You've had close contact with someone who tested positive (test 3–5 days after exposure)
- You need clearance to return to school or work
- You have an upcoming procedure, surgery, or hospital visit that requires a negative result
- You're traveling somewhere that requires a negative COVID test
- You're part of a high-risk household and want to confirm before visiting
Tests we offer
- Rapid antigen test. Shallow nasal swab. Results in roughly 15 minutes, before you leave the clinic. Best for symptomatic patients and same-day clearance.
- PCR test. More sensitive lab-based test. Results typically in 24–48 hours, sent electronically. Used for confirmation, pre-procedure testing, and travel requirements that specify PCR.
- Combined respiratory panel. One swab tests for COVID-19, influenza A, influenza B, and RSV — useful when you're not sure which virus is causing your symptoms.
What happens at your visit
- Check-in. Quick intake — let us know why you're testing (symptoms, exposure, travel, return-to-work).
- Provider exam. A brief evaluation of your symptoms and any other concerns. This is what separates urgent care from a drive-through site — you're seeing a clinician, not just dropping off a swab.
- Specimen collection. A short, low-discomfort nasal swab — usually 5–10 seconds per nostril.
- Results review. For rapid testing, your clinician reviews the result with you before you leave. For PCR, results are sent electronically within 24–48 hours.
- Care plan and documentation. If you're positive, we'll discuss whether antiviral treatment is appropriate, give you isolation guidance, and provide written instructions. If you need return-to-school or return-to-work paperwork, we'll provide signed documentation.

COVID Testing FAQs
Rapid antigen tests deliver results in about 15 minutes, before you leave the clinic. PCR test results are typically available within 24 to 48 hours and are sent to you electronically.
Rapid antigen is best when you have clear symptoms and need a quick answer, or for back-to-school and return-to-work clearance. PCR is more sensitive and recommended for confirming a negative rapid result, pre-procedure testing, or travel requirements that specifically ask for PCR. Our provider will recommend the right test based on why you're testing.
If you've been exposed but have no symptoms, test 3 to 5 days after the exposure. Testing too early can produce a false negative. If you develop symptoms before then, come in as soon as possible.
No. COVID testing at Sage Urgent Care is walk-in, 7 days a week, 8 AM to 8 PM. Same-day care, no scheduling required.
Coverage varies by plan and the reason for testing. Most plans cover testing when it's medically indicated (symptoms or known exposure). Travel and routine surveillance testing is often not covered. We accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Horizon BCBS NJ, Medicare, NJ FamilyCare, Humana, and Oxford. Self-pay rates are available and transparent.
Most COVID tests today use a shallow nasal swab — just inside the nostril, not deep into the back of the nose. It's brief and usually mild. For very young children we have low-discomfort options.
Yes. We offer combined respiratory testing that can identify COVID-19, influenza A/B, and RSV from a single swab. This is often the best choice when you have respiratory symptoms and you're not sure which virus it is.
Our provider will talk through your symptoms and assess whether you're a candidate for antiviral treatment (such as Paxlovid), which works best when started within 5 days of symptom onset. We'll give you a written care plan, isolation guidance, and follow-up instructions.
Yes. We provide signed documentation of your test result, suitable for school clearance, employer requirements, and most travel needs. Let our staff know what you need at check-in so we can prepare the right paperwork.
