Occupational Health for New Jersey Employers
Pre-employment physicals, DOT exams, drug screening, and work-injury care from one clinic in Berkeley Heights — with same-day availability and paperwork that comes back complete.
One clinic for everything your employees need
Most employers end up splitting occupational health across three or four vendors: one place for physicals, another for drug collection, a third for injuries, and an urgent care somewhere in the middle for everything that does not fit. Every handoff is a delay, another invoice, and another set of results to chase.
Sage Urgent Care consolidates that into a single location on Springfield Avenue with free parking, open 8 AM to 8 PM every day. Physicals, drug and alcohol screening, injury care, imaging, and lab work all happen in the same building, usually in the same visit. For employers in Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Summit, Murray Hill and the surrounding towns, that is often a shorter trip than the vendor they are using now — and one phone number instead of four.
Services for employers
Pre-employment & fitness-for-duty physicals
Vitals, history, physical exam, and a clear fitness-for-duty determination. Add vision screening, EKG, or lab work in the same visit when the role calls for it.
DOT & CDL physicals
Performed by certified examiners. Drivers who pass leave with the medical card in hand the same day, so nobody sits out a week waiting on paperwork.
Drug & alcohol screening
Pre-employment, random, and post-accident testing collected on site — no sending the employee across town to a separate collection facility.
Workers' comp injury care
Same-day evaluation and treatment, NJ documentation completed during the visit, and direct communication with your carrier or case manager when authorized.
On-site X-ray & lab testing
Imaging and labs are in the building, so an injury evaluation finishes in one visit instead of becoming a referral and a second trip.
TB testing & vaccinations
Tuberculosis testing for healthcare, education, and childcare hires, plus flu shots and routine vaccinations. Call if you want to schedule a group.
Return-to-work evaluations
A clear determination of what an employee can and cannot do, with restrictions documented in writing at the visit.
Wound, fracture & injury care
Laceration repair, fracture care, and treatment of the sprains and strains that make up most workplace injuries — all on site.
Why employers choose Sage
Physician-led care
Sage is owned and run by two board-certified emergency medicine physicians who set the clinical standards for every occupational visit. For an injury of uncertain severity, emergency-trained judgment is the difference between a managed claim and an unnecessary ER bill.
One site, one visit
X-ray, labs, EKG, and drug collection are all in the building. A visit that would otherwise become three appointments at three locations finishes in one.
Documentation that comes back complete
Incomplete paperwork is the most common reason claims and clearances stall. Forms are completed during the visit, not chased down afterward.
Direct billing, no employee friction
With an employer account in place, your employees are not asked for payment or insurance at the desk for authorized visits. They show up, get seen, and go back to work.
Setting up an employer account
There is no lengthy onboarding. Call (908) 363-0378 and ask about employer services, and we will work through three things: which services you want covered, who at your company is authorized to send employees and approve care, and where results, work status notes, and invoices should be sent.
Most accounts are active the same week. Once yours is set up, you can send an employee in the same day — walking in or reserving a time slot online — and we bill your company directly rather than putting your employee in front of a payment screen.
A medical emergency is different. For chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, head injury with loss of consciousness, or any injury that may be life- or limb-threatening, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Urgent care is the right setting for the great majority of workplace injuries, but not for these.
Occupational Health FAQs
Yes. We set up direct billing relationships with employers so your employees are not asked for payment or insurance at the desk for company-authorized visits. Call (908) 363-0378 to set one up — we will confirm which services you want covered, who is authorized to send employees, and where results and invoices should go.
Same day, in nearly all cases. We are open 8 AM to 8 PM every day, employees can walk in without an appointment, and they can reserve a time slot online in advance if you would rather they not wait. For scheduled work like a group of pre-employment physicals, call ahead and we will plan the timing with you.
It depends on what the role requires. A standard exam covers vital signs, a review of medical history, a physical examination, and a fitness-for-duty determination. We can add vision screening, drug screening, TB testing, EKG, and lab work in the same visit. Tell us what the position requires and we will build the panel to match.
Yes. DOT and CDL examinations are performed by certified examiners, and drivers who pass leave with their medical card the same day rather than waiting for it to arrive later. See our DOT physicals page for what drivers should bring.
Yes. Post-accident and pre-employment drug testing is performed on site, so there is no second trip to a separate collection facility. Send the employee directly to us and have them tell our staff at check-in that the visit is work-related.
Send them to us the same day. We evaluate and treat the injury, complete the New Jersey workers' compensation documentation during the visit, perform any required imaging or testing on site, and give clear work status and return-to-work guidance. Our workers' comp page covers the full process.
Yes, and at the visit rather than days later. Every work-related visit produces documentation of the assessment, any restrictions, and the expected return-to-work timeline, so your supervisors and your carrier are working from the same picture.
We are at 369 Springfield Avenue in Berkeley Heights, with free on-site parking. We regularly see employees from businesses in New Providence, Summit, Murray Hill, Chatham, Gillette, Stirling, Warren, Springfield and Mountainside. If your worksite is nearby, we are likely a shorter trip than wherever your employees go today.
